outreach at christ church
We know that Jesus committed himself to feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and drawing the outcast back into the life of the community.
We believe that following Jesus Christ means caring for our neighbors in need. We strive to be a community that lives out our convictions by sharing our time, talents, and resources with organizations working to bring healing and justice to our world.

The Chatt foundation
Chatt Foundation, formerly known as Chattanooga Community Kitchen, started as a feeding program in 1982. Seven downtown churches, including Christ Church, partnered together to serve Chattanooga’s growing unhoused population.
Since then, they have expanded to cover a city block, providing food and wrap-around services to the needy and unhoused of Chattanooga.

CNP of Haiti
Christ Church is involved in ongoing mission work and fundraising opportunities for the Chlidren’s Nutrition Program of Haiti.
CNP of Haiti cultivates Haitian-born solutions to prevent and treat malnutrition in Haitian children. Through community empowerment, health promotion and clinical care, outcomes for Haitian children are improving.

Metropolitan Ministries
Founded in 1979, MetMin first operated at Christ Church as a downtown mission of the Episcopal Commission of Southeast Tennessee.
Met Min acts as a social services emergency room, helping those who can’t quite make it, for whatever reason. They provide urgent financial assistance, rapid rehousing services, food, medical and employment support to the Chattanooga community.

Dalewood Middle School
In 2018, a Christ Church parishioner informed us of a need for student support at Dalewood Middle School.
Since then, we’ve partnered with the PTA to purchase uniforms, backpacks and school supplies for children of low-income families, snacks for students taking achievement tests, and items needed for the school emergency closet.

Bridge Refugee Services
The people of Christ Church, along with our neighbors from the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga, worked to resettle a refugee family from Iraq through Bridge Refugee Services.
BRS provides opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives after suffering persecution so that they may become productive, contributing members of the community.

Food Pantry
We operate a small food pantry on the front porch of our church office building on 663 Douglas Street. Parishioners donate nonperishable food and hygiene items for our unhoused and insecure neighbors.
